Join a Balinese family and experience the thrill of this colourful festival, with lunch included.

Join a Balinese family for the day, celebrating the Galungan festival in their countryside compound in Marga Village. The importance of the day requires traditional Balinese dress (including visitors); sarongs will be provided in order to blend in with the villagers. Help prepare for the ceremony and learn how to make banten, or an offering. There will be lots of different local foods on preparation and everyone will be busy with the ceremonial proceedings, at times this may look uncoordinated and chaotic.

Enjoy a typical Balinese lunch in the village.

After an included lunch, take a stroll through the village with a local guide who will offer some in depth insights into the origins and meanings of this important celebration. Witness the ritual performance of the village purification called ngerebeg, in which the people and members of the neighbourhood association display penjor, beautifully decorated bamboo poles in front of their houses, which are offerings to the gods.
