Current Travel measures for each country - 20JAN21

Many countries are closed to arrivals from the UK at the moment with reviews throughout January & February. However countries are open, international flight are operating and local life is returning to a "New Normal" . We have compiled a list of the measures in place for each country.

SELF-ISOLATION ON YOUR RETURN TO THE 14 DAYS- Travel advice: Gov.uk/coronavirus

CHILE IS OPEN TO TOURISM and local life has returned to normal. Chile requires a PCR test showing a negative result. These tests are now widely available in the UK. FCDO advice has placed CHILE on the GREEN LIST so there is no need to quarantine when you return to the UK and we include free travel insurance with the UK long-haul specialist Campbell Irvine

CUBA IS OPEN TO TOURISM and local life is returning to normal with charter flights and Havana airport is open to international flights since the 15th November. Cuba requires a PCR test showing a negative result before departure; then another test will be taken on arrival and you need to stay in Havana waiting for the result, available within 24 to 48 hours. These tests are now widely available in the UK. FCDO advice has placed CUBA on the GREEN LIST so there is no need to quarantine when you return to the UK and we include free travel insurance with the UK long-haul specialist Campbell Irvine. 

COSTA RICA IS OPEN TO TOURISM and local life has returned to normal with National Park, hotels, restaurants and beaches open and international airline arrivals on British Airways, Iberia and KLM. NO PCR TEST is required, only the the airline's LAMPS test. These tests are now widely available in the UK. The FCDO advises against travel so you have to self-isolate on the return.

ECUADOR & GALAPAGOS IS OPEN TO TOURISM and local life is returning to normal with international airline arrivals on Iberia and KLM. Ecuador requires a PCR test showing a negative result, taken 4 days before arrival. These tests are now widely available in the UK. FCDO advises against travel so you have to self-isolate on the return. The PCR test is required before flying to the Galapagos Islands to board your yacht so you can be confident that the crew and your fellow passengers have also tested negative.

BRAZIL IS OPEN TO TOURISM, the Summer is coming and domestic travel in booming, local life has returned to normal (Face masks are mandatory) with major tourist attractions, hotels, restaurants, bars, shops, open, and international airline arrivals on British Airways, Iberia, KLM. Travel Insurance is required to enter the country but a test is not required. LAMP tests and PCR tests are now widely available in the UK. FCDO advises against travel so you have to self-isolate on the return.

MEXICO IS OPEN TO TOURISM UT THERE ARE LOCAL RESTRICTIONS UNTIL FEBRUARY. International airline arrivals on Iberia, KLM. No test is required to enter and no quarantine is required on arrival but we recommend a PCR test showing a negative result taken 48 hours before departure. Meseums and archaeological sites re-open in January. These tests are now widely available in the UK. The FCDO advise against travel so you have to self-isolate on the return

PERU IS OPEN TO TOURISM with international airline arrivals on Iberia and KLM. A negative PCR test is required to enter 72 hours before arrival. On the 13th October Peru received the Safe Travels seal created by the World Travel & Tourism Council, as the first Health & Safety Certificate for travel. Museums in Lima and archaeological sites in and around Cusco are open. Machu Picchu is open since 1 November. No quarantine is required on arrival but the FCDO advises against travel so you have to self-isolate on the return.

COLOMBIA OPEN. Domestic flights to major cities started on Sept 1st. Hotels, restaurants and shops are open. A PCR test is required to enter taken up to 5 days before arrival. The FCDO advises against travel so you have to self-isolate on the return.

BELIZE IS OPEN TO TOURISM with the airport open to international flight arrivals. The Government has implemented a new "Tourism Gold Standard" of protocols. No quarantine is required on arrival but the FCDO advises against travel so you have to self-isolate on the return.

ARGENTINA OPENED TO TOURISM 1 NOV Life has been going back to normal since August, particularly outside Buenos Aires and international flights start in November. The main pocket of infections in the Buenos Aires area but very few in the provinces, Mendoza, Salta, Bariloche, Calafate. The FCDO advises against travel so you have to self-isolate on the return.

URUGUAY IS OPEN TO TRAVEL and local life has returned to normal but tourist facilities will open in January. Uruguay requires a PCR test showing a negative result taken 72 hours before start of travel and 7 days of self-isolation on arrival. These tests are now widely available in the UK. FCDO advice has placed URUGUAY on the GREEN LIST so there is no need to quarantine when you return to the UK and we include free travel insurance with the UK long-haul specialist Campbell Irvine. 

PANAMA IS OPEN TO TOURISM with the airport open to international flight arrivals on KLM and Air France. Iberia to restart in November. A negative PCR test is required taken 48 hours before departure. The FCDO advises against travel so you have to self-isolate on the return.

CARIBBEAN IS OPEN TO TOURISM: ANGUILLA, BAHAMAS, BVI, T&C, with the airport open to international flight arrivals. A negative PCR test is required taken no more than 5 days before departure. The FCDO advises against travel so you have to self-isolate on the return.

BOLIVIA, GUATEMALA, PANAMA, GUIANAS, ARE NOT OPEN TO TOURISM yet although some international airlines are operating and normal activity is restarting locally. We are monitoring the situation closely. The FCO advise against travel at the moment.

CHINA IS CLOSED TO BRITISH TOURISM . Local life has returned to normal and there are international flights now.

  • You will need a valid visa to enter China. Chinese Visa Application Centres are now open. Entry on visas issued before 27 March 2020 remains suspended.
  • From 21 August, you will need to submit a Health Declaration Form before you travel.
  • From 7th September, alongside the form, you must provide evidence of a negative PCR test for COVID-19 taken no more than 2 days before you travel plus another test taken locally.
  • Health checks on arrival - All overseas passenger arrivals are subject to health checks on arrival (likely involving nucleic acid or swab tests). Those failing health checks may be sent to a designated hospital for treatment.
