The city of Huaraz, north of Lima, is the perfect base from which to explore the various landscapes and interesting places which surround it. The ancient archaeological complex of Chavín de Huántar is one of the oldest of its kind and shows the remains of a great Inca culture. El Callejón de Huaylas is a narrow valley which passes snow-capped mountains, remote villages before reaching the shimmering surface of Lake Llanganuco, located at the foot of the 22,600ft Huascarán mountain.
