Guided tour of the Sacred Valley
An early start today for a full day tour to the Sacred Valley of the Incas visiting colourful Chinchero market known for its woven handcrafts. Continue to the Moray ruins, used by the Incas as a type of open-air crop laboratory. Our next stop is Maras pre-Inca salt mines located on a wide-open hill above the Urubamba Valley. Continue to the huge fortress of Ollantaytambo, the archaeological complex believed to have been a gigantic agricultural, administrative, social, religious and military centre. Our final stop is Pisac, a small colonial village built by Viceroy Francisco de Toledo on the ruins of an Inca citadel. We drive up the mountain above the town for a short visit to the Pisac ruins and enjoy stunning views of the surrounding countryside, before returning to your hotel.

Enjoy an early morning excursion by boat to the Ballestas Islands, a National Reserve that boasts a highest concentration of marine birds.

The islands lie off the coast, and are a hive of activity throughout the year. Birds vie for positions and many nests are perched precariously on tiny ledges high above the water.

The islands themselves are beautiful, with eroded caves and inlets, and sea lions frolicking around in our wake. We will see gannets, pelicans, and maybe the elusive Humboldt Penguins.
