Estancia Arroyo Verde

Arroyo Verde is a family owned and managed fly fishing lodge on the world renowned river Traful, within the Nahuel Huapi National Park in northern Patagonia, just an hour and a half from San Carlos de Bariloche airport. It was one of the first private estancias (ranch) to open its doors to anglers from across the globe.

Overlooking the valley, the traditional wood and stone built houses are set in beautifully landscaped gardens with mature trees, shrubs and colourful borders. There are several outside seating areas to enjoy a drink before lunch or to watch the sunset.

The six bedrooms are all en-suite, the bathrooms are bright and like the bedrooms with their distinctive decoration create a homely environment. All the rooms are suitable for single, twin or double occupation.

About a mile and a half from the main house the cabin perches on a rocky outcrop overlooking the lake commanding a magnificent view. It has a twin bedroom with bathroom, spacious living room with extra beds if needed. The deck overlooking the lake is a great place to enjoy the sunset.

Arroyo Verde is known for its traditional and international home made dishes. Some Argentinean ones such as empanadas, carbonada, milanesas, puchero, roast beef, panqueques con dulce de leche are favourites with visitors. For dinner it is mainly fish, pasta or chicken and a great variety of homemade soups.

The main activity is catch and release fly-fishing. At the beginning of the season the river runs high and fast with the level dropping in December but usually with fast water till the beginning or middle of January (depending on weather conditions, especially the winter snows), it then runs slow till the first Autumn rains.

You can also enjoy horse riding, hiking, birdwatching tours and photography workshops.

The rates include all meals, fishing and other activities.
