Ambergris Caye

Ambergris Caye is Belize's largest island. It is set around a mangrove swamp in the centre and gives off an atmosphere of a tropical island paradise.

Considered as the largest island in Belize and the main destination for travellers, Ambergris Caye gives off an atmosphere of a tropical island paradise, where sun-drenched days are filled with water sports and fresh juice. Whilst fishing, coconuts, and chicle were historic means of islanders' support, for some years now the island has seen a large growth in both the dive and scuba business and ecotourism. Dominated by the pretty town of San Pedro, where traditional shops, bars and restaurants jostle, the island is simply a paradise on earth; palm trees, beautiful white sandy beaches, multi-coloured fish, and hospitable local people. Ambergris Caye is the perfect place to relax with the family, for honeymoons or for divers, due to the proximity of the world's second biggest reef barrier.
