The Pacuare River is considered to be amongst the world's best class 3 and 4 rafting opportunities, for both the scenery and the quality of the rapids. The river is located on Costa Rica's Atlantic slope, bordering the Talamanca mountain range and home to native Cabecar inhabitants and an incredible variety of wildlife. The rafting course is 14 miles long in total and takes between three and five hours to complete, depending on the water level.
The activity is suitable for most travellers of a good phystical condition, though swimming experience is essential and there is a 14 year old minimum age requirement. All rafting and safety equipment will be provided, as well as professional guidance and breakfast and lunch.
