Fly overnight to Buenos Aires

Depart in the evening on an overnight flight to Buenos Aires.


Day 2

Arrive in Buenos Aires 

Arrive in Buenos Aires in the morning and transfer to your chosen hotel where you stay for 2-nights. Rest of the day at leisure.


Day 3

Guided tour of Buenos Aires 

Enjoy a half day tour of the city, nicknamed the "Paris of South America" for its turn of the century French architecture. We visit La Boca and its brightly coloured houses, the Cathedral, Recoleta and the Presidential Palace. We can offer a wide range of optional excursions, tango dance classes and other activities to enjoy in Buenos Aires.

A further day to explore Buenos Aires, perhaps experience a tango show or enjoy other optional excursions.

Fly to Bariloche

Today we take a domestic flight to Bariloche, in Argentina’s Lake District, staying for three nights. This alpine town is surrounded by beautiful mountain countryside with excellent hotels and country lodges to enjoy. 


Day 6

Scenic Lakes and Forest Walks 

The scenery ranges from lush, snow-covered mountain peaks and beautiful lakes to the dry Pampa in the lowlands. It is a hub for outdoor activities, horse riding and walking the numerous trails; a wonderful place for picnics on the shore of picturesque lakes.  


Day 7

Exploring the Lake District

A further day to enjoy this invigorating alpine region, high in the Andes.

Bariloche & Lake District - Tourist Lodge

Located in the village of San Martin de los Andes, at the foot of the mountain you will find Hosteria Las Lengas, in a lush corner of a quiet road, three blocks from downtown and five from Lake Lacar. One of the highlights of this journey is our trip over the Andes into Chile. We take a sequence of bus journeys and boat rides across 3 lakes. The views of the mountains are stunning and on a clear day you can see all along the mountain chain. We eventually arrive in the Chilean town of Puerto Varas.

This morning we fly to Punta Arenas. On arrival, transfer to Torres del Paine National Park, for a for 3 night stay. 


Day 10

Exploring and trekking in Torres del Paine

Two full days for sightseeing and walks in the famous Torres del Paine National Park, all bookable locally from your hotel. Whether you travel on a guided excursion by bus or take an exciting trek, you will be rewarded by the most extraordinary views and scenery. We will provide a map to help you plan your days and walks. At night the sky is fascinating with thousands of stars to contemplate.

Lago grey

Torres del Paine - Tourist Hotel

Looking out across the lake, this lodge has been designed to blend in with the surrounding forest of lengua trees. Its restaurant and bar overlook Glacier Grey and all the rooms are centrally heated. From here you can walk to Peninsula Grey, a craggy outcrop surrounded by icebergs, directly opposite the glacier face or get even closer by taking a boat trip from the lodge to the glacier.

Awasi

Torres del Paine - Deluxe Hotel

Awasi Patagonia is located in a private reserve just outside Torres del Paine, with impressive views of the Torres and Lake Samiento. Its 12 luxury villas are constructed from local materials, each with a fireplace and large windows which capture the best views of the park. Guests are assigned a private guide and a 4x4 vehicle so that excursions can be taken inside the park or around the private reserve.

Day 12

Tierra del Fuego expedition cruise to Ushuaia

We travel to Punta Arenas pier where we embark the M/V Stella Australis (or depending on your departure date the M/V Ventus Australis) expedition cruise ship for a 4 night cruise on a full board basis including all excursions through the myriad of islands and channels of the Tierra del Fuego archipelago. Enjoy a cocktail reception with the captain this evening as we set sail in the southernmost tip of the world. 


Day 13

The Marinelli Glacier and Magellan Forest

In the morning we arrive at the Marinelli Glacier. Here, our expert guides will take you on a walk to a beaver dam in the Magellanic Forest. We observe colonies of elephant seals, penguins and cormorants. Later in the day we visit Tucker Islet. 


Day 14

Beagle Channel and Glacier Alley

This morning we sail through the famous Beagle Channel to Pia Glacier. From here, we board zodiacs to take us to shore for a short hike to a lookout point with a spectacular view of the entire glacier. It is really quite awesome! We return to the ship and sail through the majestic 'Glacier Alley'. On board, enjoy lectures and presentations about this historically fascinating part of the world.


Day 15

Cape Horn National Park

Today we explore the mythical place known as the 'End of the Earth', Cape Horn National Park. A UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, we go ashore and enjoy a guided trek discovering the flora, fauna and wildlife that make this special place their home. Later, after returning to the ship, we go ashore at Wulaia Bay, once the site of the regions largest indigenous settlements, where we take a walk through Magellanic Forest. 

Stella Australis

Tierra del Fuego & Cape Horn Cruises - First Cruise Vessel

Deep in the far south of Patagonia is Tierra del Fuego. It is here where the custom-built Australis ships cruise the dramatic landscape of glaciers, rocky islands, calm canals and snow covered peaks at the junction of the Pacific, Atlantic and Antarctic Oceans

The Stella Australis is a luxurious, awe-inspiring cruise ship. The ship, constructed in 2010, consists of 100 cabins with a capacity of up to 210 passengers. During the cruise, there will be daily inland tours lasting approximately two hours.

These tours are organised and managed by the Australis Expedition Group and consist of walks through trails in the native Chilean forest and visits to glaciers. The tours include talks on the wildlife, flora and fauna of the area. A delicious whisky with the millenary ice, or a cup of hot chocolate will be served at the end of the excursions. 

You will travel between Ushuaia in Argentina and Punta Arenas on the Chilean side, with itineraries available in both directions.

The Ventus Australis is a brand new and state-of-the-art vessel, purpose built to cruise the fjords and channels of Tierra del Fuego in luxury and comfort.
