A fascinating full day experience, once-in-a-lifetime, journey across the Andean Mountains Altiplano between Cusco and Puno, on the shore of Lake Titicaca, with breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea serviced at your table as you watch the mountain landscapes.

Since 1999, PeruRail has run train services from Cusco  to Lake Titicaca (Puno) and visa versa.

They also operate the Andean Explorer train from Cusco to Puno and onto Arequipa for luxury operator Belmond.

Peru Rail Titicaca

Crossing the Andes on the Cusco-Puno route aboard the PeruRail Titicaca Train is a truly once-in-a-lifetime adventure and one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world.

The train departs Cusco daily (trains from Puno to Cusco are on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays) and takes 10 and a half hours. Each train has an observatory car with open air access, a bar car including live entertainment and the dining car where, in the style of the Pullman cars of the 1920’s, you enjoy an included 3-course lunch blending International and Peruvian cuisine.

At the start of the journey, passengers are welcomed in Cusco or Puno, where local musicians serenade you on board the train. Created to provide passengers with the most comfortable journey possible, the train offers soft seating with good legroom and the chance to take panoramic pictures of some of the quintessential Andean landscapes from the open-air observatory car while listening to typical music of the Peruvian highlands.
