San Martin de los Andes is a small picturesque town located on the shore of the Lake Lacar and surrounded by natural beauty. It is noted for its beach and nearby hiking, skiing, cycling, fishing and horse-riding opportunities. You can stay in San Martin as part of a self-drive holiday through the Argentine Lake District, in combination with Bariloche, or alternatively on a day trip from the latter.
The journey between Bariloche and San Martin is spectacular. One route takes you along the evocatively-named Seven Lakes Road, whilst a second goes via the Córdoba pass, a typical Patagonian landscape at the confluence of the Traful and Limay rivers, as well as the Enchanted Valley and a natural amphitheatre.
